The right person for the job
  • ICS constantly maintains a database of 400 interpreters along with their areas of expertise, fields of excellence, work history and personal characteristics.
  • From our database, we select the right interpreter for your conference.
Advance materials and how they affect interpreter output
  • Prior to an assignment, we collect information and materials relevant to the interpreting job and provide them to the interpreter.
  • With our years of experience working with speakers at the conferences we administer, we are able to collect reference materials most effectively in advance.
Creating an environment where interpreters can concentrate on the job
  • Our staff members examine your meeting place layout and simultaneous interpreting equipment from the interpreter’s point of view and coordinate your facilities to forestall a possible problem with any interpreting service.
  • Our interpreting coordinators gather reference materials before your conference/event and continue to do so right up to the day it is held so that our interpreters can study your specialized field and be prepared to give their undivided attention to the job of interpreting.
Types of interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting

In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter uses special equipment (a simultaneous interpreting system) to interpret practically simultaneously with the speaker. We recommend this type of interpreting for large international conferences, seminars, lectures, and so on.
Since individual interpreters work for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, ordinarily they work in teams of two or three.

Consecutive interpreting

In consecutive interpreting, the speaker takes a break after each sentence so that the interpreter can interpret what was just said.
We recommend this kind of interpreting for press conferences, greetings during receptions and similar situations.
Customers of consecutive interpreting should pay attention to approximate time required because this is a process of repeating the same message in different words. (For example, if you have one hour to give a speech, the speech itself should be about 30 minutes.)

Whispering interpreting

A whispering interpreter speaks directly into the ear of a particular individual.
This is often used, for example, at one-to-one meetings among heads of different countries. Since the amount of work involved is similar to that of simultaneous interpreting, the number of interpreters needed is figured the same way.
