About International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference “nano tech”

This is a comprehensive event, which was sponsored by ICS in 2002 when the word “nanotechnology” was still unknown, by Takahiro Matsui, then General Manager of Exposition Department at ICS (now Director). He was captivated by the immense potential of manufacturing using nanotechnology, and decided to focus on exhibitions in this fascinating field. The event has since been held every February.

As Matsui said, “Nanotechnology is not a technology specialized in one specific field but a vast fundamental technology to bring new values to all fields including physics, chemistry, machinery, electricity, electronics, materials, biology, and medicine.” In the groundbreaking years of the second generation when people in the field of nanotechnology were seeking ways to find practical applications and capitalize on it, “nano tech 2002” attracted more than 10,000 researchers and engineers from various fields. A questionnaire survey conducted then not only helped grasp the latest information on research and development but also highlighted the trend toward practical use. This proved to be a valuable reference for formulating the road map in the industry and attracted not only domestic but also global interest.

Featuring all the latest technology and with a reputation for revealing all there is to know about nanotechnology, “nano tech” has grown each year into the exciting, comprehensive event it is today, where everyone can experience the thrill of a major exhibition.

The seventh event in 2008 attracted 49,365 visitors, 522 exhibiting companies and organizations (including 198 overseas companies from 23 countries). Currently, it is held concurrently with five Specialized technology exhibitions: Nano Bio Expo, ASTEC, METEC, Convertech JAPAN, and neo functional material, PRINTABLE ELECTRONICS.
